Who can join?
Riders, trainers, barn owners, grooms, equine professionals and horse show families who buy their own coverage, including people who are not eligible for an employer plan. You do not need to be a US Equestrian member to join, but this page and its pricing are here for the US Equestrian community.
Is this a US Equestrian group plan?
No. Coverage is individual. Each person joins on their own, picks their own plan, and pays their own monthly amount. United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. makes the program available to its community and does not sponsor or administer benefits.
When can I sign up?
Any month. Becoming a member is a qualifying event, so you don't have to wait for open enrollment. Most people are covered within a few days of signing up.
Can I add my spouse or kids?
Yes. Family pricing is shown at plan selection, based on each person's age.
Can I keep my doctor?
Most likely. Cigna PPO and PHCS are both national networks. You can search for your doctors during onboarding, before you pick a plan, and again any time in the app.
Does it cover riding injuries?
Medical plans cover injuries the same way they cover any other care: the emergency room, imaging, surgery and rehab are all paid at 100% once you meet your deductible. The optional accident plan adds a cash benefit on top when a fall happens, whether it is at home, at the barn or at a show.
What does it actually cost?
Major medical is priced by age and ZIP code and shown before you commit. Click Calculate my rate, enter your ZIP and date of birth, and you see your real price in about a minute. MEC is $70 a month and MEC Plus is $125 a month at every age.
